For the first REDNetwork Member Spotlight, we caught up with Andrew and Briohny from Accelerate Off-Grid Touring in Maroochydore, Queensland, to find out a bit more about their business and what makes them tick.
How long has your business been in operation?
Since September 2008, so 13 years.
How many staff do Accelerate Auto Electrics have?
15 employees plus us.
How long have you been installing REDARC product and what REDARC install are you most proud of?
Andrew has been installing REDARC for 20+ years. Our favourite install, and the one we are most proud of, is Andrew’s vehicle – The Accelerator! Andrew’s 79 Series has a Norweld Canopy fitted with a full REDARC off-grid setup, including a 200Ah battery, 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter, two BCDC 1250D’s, The Manager30, RedVision TVMS with two RedVision displays and gauges up the front.
This system allows us to run a 2000W induction cooktop, Bushman 130 upright fridge, smart TV, Travel Buddy oven and charge all our power tools. We recently spent a week on Fraser Island, and it was awesome being able to cook bacon and eggs on the beach when it was windy. What is the best thing about coming to work every day?
That we get to hang out with each other, all day, every day. What more could you want! No seriously, we have an amazing, driven, and skilled team who make every day feel like you’re hanging with your adopted family.
What has been your greatest business achievement to date?
So hard to choose! We’ve won a few business awards, those moments rate very highly. We recently purchased the workshop we had been renting and are about to undertake a full re-fit. This has been a long-term goal of ours for several years, so being able to tick that off was a great feeling.
Reflecting on 2020 and 2021 also feels amazing. When COVID hit in 2020 we had some difficult discussions about which staff we would keep and which we would let go. Fast forward 18 months and we have managed to retain all our staff plus employ a few more.
We also love it when we get to sign of an apprentice and reflect on how far they’ve come. Our goal is to sign off an apprentice each year.

What is your favourite place in the world and why?
The western side of Fraser Island, the privacy and untouched serenity is breathtaking. The water is flat so the kids can play happily and there’s some awesome fishing!
