On the 31st of January, REDARC Electronics signed on as the major sponsor of the TAFE SA Solar Team who are taking their SAV (solar-articulated vehicle) to the next three World Solar Challenges.
The TAFE SA team celebrated the official launch of the biannual Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2019 at Adelaide’s Victoria Square this week. Now the countdown is on to the epic 3000km journey from Darwin to Adelaide, 13th to the 20th October.
TAFE SA Electrical Lecturer, Mark Ready said, “We had a new intake of young team members, including apprentices and two students from St Patricks Technical College at Elizabeth”.
Speaking of the team’s next steps Mark said, “We have had good progress this year, our new battery is almost built, and our new dash system is in design phase. We expect to be on road trials next month”.
The Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, David Ridgway attended the event saying, “Broadcast across the globe, the event provides a unique platform to market South Australia, its iconic desert scenery and as a hotbed for innovation.”
This year TAFE SA joins 53 teams (8 Australian based) from 24 countries. You can follow the TAFE SA team or keep up with the journey via World Solar Challenge.
