REDARC’s RedVision lets you take control of adventures like never before. With a few different power, distribution and monitoring products, RedVision lets you design a vehicle management system that suits exactly how you like to travel. It can be tricky to know where to start though with the total vehicle management range, so we’re running through how to choose the right TVMS system for you.
WHAT IS REDVISION?
RedVision is the central hub for all your devices. It’s the ultimate off-grid companion that allows you to seamlessly control and monitor onboard accessories like lights, fridges, TVs, water tanks and batteries from your fingertips.
HOW TO BUILD A REDVISION SYSTEM?
To design and build the perfect vehicle management system for you, start with choosing your charger, secondary battery and monitoring solution. Next you’ll need to choose a TVMS distribution box. The TVMS distribution box will provide full control over your accessories as well as tank level and temperature monitoring. REDARC has two TVMS distribution box options, the TVMS Rogue and TVMS Prime.
TVMS ROGUE
Perfect for: compact installations & running low to medium powered devices.
SIZE
At just 25mm thick, the TVMS Rogue is designed for use in situations where space is limited. This makes it the perfect option for compact campers, 4x4s and fleet vehicles. Being so small, it can easily be hidden out of sight, saving more room for the important stuff.
OUTPUTS
Outputs allow you to control your on-board devices such as your lights, fridge, speakers and more. The TVMS Rogue has ten 10A outputs for low to medium powered devices such as lights, USBs, pumps and communications gear.
INPUTS & SENSORS
The TVMS Rogue features two analogue tank level inputs which offer more accurate and granular measurements. The Rogue also has eight switch inputs for dimmable and physical switching, this means that lights can be programmed to dim to a preset level.
FUSING
The TVMS Rogue utilises digital fusing, meaning you don’t have to access the unit to replace any physical fuses, it’s all done easily in the app. This means the unit can be installed somewhere convenient without the need to access it to reset fuses.
TVMS PRIME
Perfect for: larger power demands & running high and low powered devices.
SIZE
While it has a bigger form factor, at over double the thickness of its counterpart, the TVMS Prime is a system perfect for handling larger power demands. The trade off here is that it does need to be installed in a location where the fuses are accessible within your build.
OUTPUTS
If you’re looking to design a system that includes both low and high-power devices without the need for additional relays, the TVMS Prime is your answer. Featuring 10A outputs, 30A outputs and a max current of 80A, the Prime is perfect for running larger fridges, air compressors and diesel heaters. It also has a dedicated REDARC inverter remote output, so you can use all ten outputs for your 12V devices.
INPUTS & SENSORS
The TVMS Prime is a monitoring powerhouse. It features six tank sensor inputs, two temperature sensor inputs and a voltage sensing ‘Digital’ input, so you’ll have total visibility of your entire rig. The Prime also comes with two 3m temperature sensors as standard.
FUSING
The TVMS Prime features an easily accessible fuse panel, utilizing internal lights to showcase blown blade fuses. It also has physical backup switches to keep you in control even if automatic switching is disrupted. This also means that the unit will need to be installed somewhere accessible.
HOW TO CONTROL YOUR DEVICES THROUGH YOUR TVMS SYSTEM?
Both the TVMS Prime and TVMS Rogue require a RedVision Display for control and monitoring of your system. RedVision is also Bluetooth® enabled, so you can easily track battery status, temperature and tank levels from your mobile device.
Both units allow for customization and automation. You can program a button that turns off all your accessories except a fridge, group lighting circuits so they can all be turned on with a single button press or even program your system to automatically turn off certain loads when power gets low.
Ultimately, choosing the right TVMS Distribution Box comes down to your specific needs. If you’re limited on space and want dimming and physical switch inputs, smart fuses, and analogue sensor inputs, TVMS Rogue is your best bet.
If you want a more complex system with larger power demands that require a higher current capacity and more tank level and temperature sensors, the TVMS Prime has you covered.
If you want more power than either option can offer alone, pair two Rogues for double the number of channels, or combine both for the power of the Prime and the smarts of the Rogue.
Both units work with REDARC’s range of chargers, where that’s a Manager, BCDC Alpha or Smart Battery Monitor paired with BCDC Core or Classic.
