Relentless Innovation: The Evolution of REDARC Products

Aussies are famous for a resourceful approach and an inventive nature, being isolated in one of the harshest environments in the world demands this. At REDARC, the drive for innovation runs deep—it's not just something we talk about, it's something we live and breathe. Since our inception, we've been determined to push the boundaries of what's possible. We don't just build products; we enable an untethered, off-grid lifestyle, we thrive where competitors struggle to survive, and we inspire our consumers to challenge themselves with confidence that REDARC has their back.

We innovate by applying technology to solve genuine customer problems. The consumer need comes first, without a problem there does not need to be a solution. We layer this with insights from direct customers and trade, combining it with our manufacturing know-how to ensure we outpace a competitive industry.

Developing world-class solutions that are competitive on a global scale and provide genuine value to our customers is what propels us forward, and why we pour 15% of our revenue into research and development. Every dollar furthers new ideas, better designs, and future breakthroughs. REDARC is one of the largest manufacturing employers in Adelaide, a testament to our commitment to keeping jobs local and our quality high.

Our relentless pursuit of excellence has always been driven by a competitive spirit. We don’t just aim to keep up with industry standards—we set them. “Our goal is to ensure that our product and service is the benchmark by which the competition is measured,” sums up our approach. It’s this mindset that keeps us agile, pushing limits and achieving big things, all while staying true to our core value of relentless innovation.

This spirit was captured perfectly in 2020 when we partnered with the official Australian Made Campaign, proudly adopting the iconic Australian Made and Owned logo. It wasn’t just a branding decision; it was a confr of our commitment to excelling as a manufacturer right here at home.

The journey of innovation at REDARC is written in the evolution of our products, each new model building on the legacy of the last. Take our dual battery systems, for example. It all started in 1995 with the CP12 Isolator, designed to charge an auxiliary battery while the vehicle is running, without discharging the start battery when the vehicle is stopped. Since then we’ve moved through milestones like the Smart Battery Isolator (SBI) and the initial BCDC range, the BCDC Classic. Each iteration has brought smarter, more reliable solutions to our customers, helping them stay powered up no matter where their adventures take them.

The Manager range was conceived in a joint program with the initial BCDC, initially intended to solve the problem of charging two batteries of differing chemistries but broadened to allow charging from multiple sources including Solar and Mains power outlets at campgrounds. While the BCDC made waves with its simple “set and forget” charging system, the Manager series went a step further. It introduced multiple charging methods—DC, AC, and solar—giving users more flexibility in how they power their systems. But it wasn’t just about charging anymore; the Manager series allowed customers to actively monitor how their system was performing, offering more control and insight into their energy use. Now with the Manager Alpha range, we have introduced higher amperage models to  suit power hungry lithium battery systems with the ability to charge back to your starter battery, providing even more peace of mind for even larger vehicles. Learn more about the differences between the BCDC and Manager30.

RedVision was born out of a desire to simplify the holiday experience even further by providing a seamless way to control an entire electrical system. Effectively, we provide the power to enable all these appliances, why don’t we make it easier to route and use this power. With RedVision, users can manage a variety of on-board devices, from lights and fans to fridges, inverters, and pumps, all from one central hub. With multiple outputs to handle both low and high-powered devices, putting complete control right at the user’s fingertips.

With GoBlock, we gave users a portable power source that doesn’t require any vehicle modifications, making it accessible to anyone. Whether you’re off-grid or just need power on the go, GoBlock’s portability and ease of use are a game changer, offering flexibility to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

And it’s not just battery systems where we’ve left our mark. Our brake controllers have been a cornerstone of REDARC’s innovation since 1990. We revolutionized the market in 2008 with the introduction of the EBRH, and the Tow-Pro series that followed has continued to raise the bar. With the upcoming release of the Tow-Pro Link, featuring SwayStop Plus and Bluetooth Connection, we’re taking safety and control to a whole new level for towing enthusiasts.

Our constant drive to innovate hasn’t gone unnoticed. We’ve picked up multiple awards for excellence in manufacturing, including recognition at the Caravan Industry Victoria Hall of Fame & Business Awards. We’re also a Tier 1 supplier for OEMs, and our export success has earned us back-to-back Exporter of the Year titles, along with accolades for business sustainability and innovation at the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Excellence & Innovation Awards.

But at the heart of it all, the story of REDARC is about never settling. We believe there’s always a better way to do things, and that belief fuels everything we do. Our relentless innovation, combined with our commitment to quality and performance, means we’re not just keeping up with the competition—we’re outpacing it, delivering products that exceed expectations time and time again.
