As REDARC continues to grow across North America, we’ve expanded our sales team to reach more regions, bringing on Doug Richards in late 2023 to cover the South Central region. To help you get to know Doug a little better, we had a chat with him to discover what drives him. Here’s a peek into his journey and how he’s geared up to support our North American team!
What is your working background? What were you doing before you joined REDARC?
I have mostly been an OEM rep for high end products. most recently I was the central united states factory rep for Vanleigh RV’s, a division of Tiffin Motorhomes.
Talk us through what an average day at REDARC consists of?
My day starts with answering emails and making calls to prospects and customers. When traveling (usually 2-3 weeks out of the month) I would start the day with product training with customers followed by visiting prospects and introducing them to REDARC’s array of power solution products.

What is the best thing about working at REDARC?
I would have to say the best thing about working at REDARC is the North American team, the vibe in the overland community and the great reputation REDARC has earned.
What is your favourite REDARC product and why?
My favorite REDARC product is the highly anticipated GoBlock because of its versatility. It provides power off grid so I can enjoy a cold drink from my fridge, run lights, power cell phones, power laptops, etc. The neat thing is it can be charged from three different sources: shore power; solar; and/or from the vehicle’s alternator (when locked into its dedicated docking station). Another great feature of the GOBLOCK is it can jump start a vehicle’s start battery, if it should go flat. Finally, it has endless applications because of its MOBILITY.
What is your dream vehicle? And what gadgets would you put in it?
The JEEP 392 would be my top pick, equipped with a roof rack, tent, fridge, air compressor, coffee maker, Blackstone grill and plenty of lights, outlets & USB ports. These comforts would be powered by our new Manager ALPHA 75 Charger, two ALPHA 150 lithium batteries, 2000w inverter, one 180w fixed solar panel, a 240w solar blanket – ALL managed by two TVMS Rogue control systems. YES TWO, with twenty 10amp circuits!
Tell us about your REDARC Rig, what products do you have and why are they important?
My REDARC Dodge RAM truck has the Manager30, an ALPHA 150 lithium battery, the TVMS Rogue system, a 2000w inverter, two 180w fixed solar panels and the Smart Battery Monitor. This set up allows for my fridge, air compressor, coffee maker and all my internal and external lights to operate effortlessly.
When you’re out meeting people on the road and they ask “What REDARC product do I need?” what do you tell them?
This question comes up quite a bit. It’s important to first find out what items they wish to POWER away from home. Most first-timers just want the ability to support a fridge, lights, power their phones and other small items, like a drone. This is the beauty of REDARC, we have products that are inexpensive and easy to install that will support these 12-volt accessories. Now, if the need becomes more sophisticated, such as air conditioners, microwave or toasters, NO WORRIES! REDARC has power solutions to support these demands as well.
