How ENRG Vans uses REDARC to power flexible, off-grid adventures

MODULAR POWER, BUILT TO ROAM | How ENRG Vans uses REDARC to power flexible, off-grid adventures

ENRG Vans, based on the East Coast of the USA, specializes in modular, highly configurable Ford Transit adventure vans.  Their innovative approach delivers a flexible base model that supports rapid reconfiguration, perfect for anyone from solo travelers to families of four. ENRG’s goal is to offer adaptable vans that keep pace with changing lifestyles.

The Challenge

When designing their flagship Ford Transit, ENRG faced the difficult task of fitting an entire electrical system into a compact van platform, without sacrificing performance, safety, or future flexibility.

Key challenges included:

  • Space constraints – All components had to fit under the front passenger seat
  • Heat resistance – The system needed to perform reliably in tight, high-heat spaces
  • Modularity – The system had to support future upgrades or reconfiguration to suit customers evolving needs
  • Simplicity – Installation had to be quick, intuitive, and scalable across builds

“We wanted a multi-use van that could park in regular spots and navigate narrow forest roads. That meant no room for traditional garage-mounted electrical systems, we needed something that could handle the heat and the space constraints.”

About REDARC

REDARC is an Australian engineering company known for its rugged, intuitive power management systems, trusted across the globe in the most extreme environments. Their mission is to create solutions that empower off-grid travel through innovation, reliability, and simplicity.

For ENRG Vans, REDARC offered the ideal mix of compact form factor, thermal durability, and plug-and-play installation, a perfect fit for their modular build philosophy.

The Solution

REDARC’s BCDC range offered the ideal solution. The original BCDC1250D dual input DC-DC charger was compact, sealed, and mountable in engine bays, making it the perfect match for ENRG’s confined and thermally challenging installation space. Installation was plug-and-play, with clearly labeled wires and no complicated programming.

As customer demands evolved, especially for power-hungry features like off-grid air conditioning, ENRG redesigned their system. They relocated the spare tire, installed a 460Ah waterproof lithium battery under the van, and transitioned to REDARC’s new BCDC Alpha 50 model.

The Alpha offered additional benefits: easier screw terminal installation, Bluetooth control, and the ability to top up the vehicle’s starter battery from the auxiliary system.

The Results

Nearly a decade and dozens of installs later, ENRG Vans continues to trust REDARC for every build.

Key results include:

  • Zero customer callbacks – Systems have proven rock-solid across all conditions
  • Effortless scalability – Simple installs reduce build time and increase reliability
  • True “set-and-forget” simplicity – End-users don’t need to manage or troubleshoot
  • Confidence in remote travel – Bluetooth diagnostics and manual override enhance peace of mind for off-grid adventures

“If you plan to go way off-grid, you need confidence in an electrical system that won’t fail. REDARC is the only choice when being stranded isn’t an option.”
