The latest instalment of REDARC's Unbeatable Rigs series goes back to where it all started for Patriot Campers, the iconic Black Truck LC79 Series Supertourer.
This fully customized and kitted out 79 Series set the bar in the industry for what would soon become the benchmark for overlanding rigs. It has covered some of the toughest terrains on the planet, from outback Australia to the deserts of the United States. It has been there, done that and barely broken a sweat.
Built on the indestructible 79 Series Toyota LandCruiser, the Patriot Campers LC79 Supertourer transformed a brand new 4.5 litre V8 Turbo-Diesel GXL 70 Series into an ultra-capable off-road tourer unrivalled in a market segment dominated by DIY-modified and accessorized 4WD vehicles.
Designed in the spirit of the 4x Camper Trailer of the Year winning Patriot Campers X1, the LC79 Supertourer was first given a 300mm chassis extension, then fitted with a bespoke Patriot Campers Supertourer body, custom-designed fittings and carefully selected accessories including TJM bar work, TJM front and rear winches, Clearview mirrors, an undertray water tank with electric pump and a navigation and comms package from HEMA and GME.
The LC79 Supertourer was given an EFS suspension upgrade up to 3,800kg and rides on ROH alloy rims wrapped in Mickey Thompson rubber for ultimate traction and go-anywhere manoeuvrability.
All of this represents an off road tourer designed by enthusiasts with unrivalled attention to detail and award-winning manufacturing excellence.

With a definitive look following the vehicle’s contours, the LC79’s uniquely styled and functional body looks the business with color matched toolboxes and headboard infill on black highlights.
The body is made completely from aluminium ensuring the expected lifespan. Lightweight and rigid construction methods ensure that the payload is maximized as is the towing capacity.

Lock n’ Load with Integrated Storage
Oversized toolboxes house a kitchenette on the passenger side and an impressive storage compartment on the drivers' side.
A massive rear lockable slide-out drawer can be put to numerous uses further increasing storage capacity, with discreet and sturdy toolbox options including front right and left, as well as rear drawers and toolboxes on both sides of the rear of the canopy.

Built to tackle the roughest terrain, the Black Truck has a host of suspension upgrades and is ready to rumble.

Using EFS Elite 60mm tube suspension with 3 inches of lift, the LC79 will chew through any track or rut in its path.
ROH Octagon alloy wheels 17x8
Capable of attacking the tracks or cruising the streets, the ROH Octagon is designed for off-road performance and up to 1,250kg load rating.
Mickey Thompson 285/70 R17
Mickey Thompson's Power Ply sidewalls with a special angled third ply give the LC79 performance handling, better puncture resistance and improved towing capability.
GME TX 3550S
Bringing together all of GME's unique technology, including ScanSuite; the latest in digital scanning technology; the TX3550S is the flagship of the S series family.
The radio comes with 95 user programmable receive frequencies to listen in on local emergency services to keep safe and stay in touch. Other features include SelCall, CTCSS, DCS and Voice Inversion Scrambler for those users looking for greater privacy and less interruption.
