Voltage Reducers

The REDARC range of Switch Mode Voltage Reducers provide a 12 volt nominal output from a 24 volt source. This makes them ideal for running 12 volt lamps, small motors and electronic loads from a 24 volt vehicle input. REDARC Voltage Reducers are ideally suited to applications that require a low noise output and are designed to operate sensitive radio and communication equipment. REDARC’s Compact Switch Mode Reducers are a type of voltage converter that are small in size and designed to fit into tight locations.

24V TO 12V REDUCER USES AND BENEFITS

  • Powering sensitive electronics: Many electronic devices are designed to operate within a specific voltage range. When the vehicle's electrical system provides a higher voltage than what these devices can handle, voltage reducers can step down the voltage to a safe level. This prevents damage or malfunction to sensitive electronics.

  • Battery charging: When camping or caravanning, you may rely on battery power for your appliances. Voltage reducers can be used to charge batteries at a lower voltage to prevent overcharging or damage to the batteries.

  • Energy efficiency: Lowering the voltage in certain applications can help improve energy efficiency. For example, LED caravan lighting systems often operate more efficiently at reduced voltages, which can be achieved using voltage reducers.

  • Stabilising voltage: In some situations, the voltage supplied by a vehicle's electrical system can fluctuate, which can be problematic for sensitive equipment. Voltage reducers can help stabilise the voltage, ensuring a constant and safe supply. See also: DC Power Supplies

  • Safety: They can also act as a safety feature by preventing electrical overloads and reducing the risk of electrical fires or other hazards in your camping or caravan setup.
