REDARC Defence & Space Successfully Completes Enhanced Production Readiness Review for Hunter Class Frigate Program

REDARC Defence & Space celebrates a significant milestone in their partnership with BAE Systems Australia for the Hunter Class Frigate Program.

The company has successfully completed the rigorous Enhanced Production Readiness Review (EPRR) process, receiving approval from ASC Shipbuilding Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of BAE Systems Australia.

This achievement signifies REDARC's commitment to delivering high-quality lighting assemblies that meet the stringent standards set by MARL International Limited, the UK-based original equipment manufacturer.

The EPRR ensures that REDARC's production processes and manufactured products are equivalent to those of MARL, guaranteeing reliability and performance.

Fulfilling a $23 Million Contract

Under a $23 million contract with BAE Systems Australia, REDARC Defence & Space is supplying thousands of LED lights for the Hunter Class Frigate program. This collaboration involves a technical transfer with MARL International, enabling REDARC to manufacture various lights for each frigate, including:

  • Bunk and flood lights
  • Weather deck and step lights
  • General and emergency lights

In late 2023, the MARL team joined REDARC Defence & Space at the Cooroora facilities to conduct critical testing of the 13 initial lighting assemblies. This comprehensive process ensured all components meet the demanding specifications of the Hunter Class Frigate Program.

The Hunter Class Frigates represent the next generation of anti-submarine warfare vessels currently under construction for the Royal Australian Navy.

REDARC is actively scaling up production to meet the demands of the program, with over 1,700 luminaires planned for the inaugural vessel.

This commitment not only reinforces REDARC’s dedication to Australian Industry Capability but also demonstrates the unwavering support for the Royal Australian Navy.
