Introducing the BCDC Core

While choosing the right sized secondary battery is important for powering off-grid adventures, having a reliable charger to keep this battery charged is critical. Without charge going back into the battery, your time off-grid is limited, and you run the risk of over draining your battery and impacting its lifespan. Having a DC to DC charger between your starting and secondary battery allows you to recharge from your vehicle’s alternator while driving to and from your destination.

How does a DC-DC charger work?

But what if you want to be camped for an extended period of time without having to drive around for an hour a day to charge your battery? This is where solar comes in. By utilising energy from the sun through a fixed panel, portable panel, solar blanket, or any combination of the three, you can replace battery charge while the sun is out.

REDARC’s DC to DC battery chargers, the BCDC range, have an in-built Green Power Priority setting, which will take power from solar as a priority before using supplementary power from the vehicle’s alternator when available.

Choosing the right charger

Featuring REDARC’s trusted battery charging technology, the BCDC range comes in two models, the BCDC Classic and brand-new BCDC Core. Choose the BCDC Classic for a unit that can handle anything you can throw at it or power up for less with the new BCDC Core range.

Available in 25A and 40A variants, the Core is ideal for canopy, battery box or cabin installations. With its compact size you can hide it under seats, behind a side panel or tuck it away in an unused section of the canopy, there’s no need to ruin the interior vehicle look with bulky

The BCDC Core is compatible with all common battery chemistries including Lithium and suitable for 12v standard and smart alternators. Pair with one of REDARC’s fixed panels, portable panels or solar blanket for a system that works seamlessly and is ready to keep you off-grid for as long as you want

Featuring fully sealed electronics, the BCDC Classic is still available and perfect for engine bay installations that encounter water crossings, desert heat, mud pits and wild weather. If there’s an extreme condition or environment you can encounter it on the road, the BCDC Classic will get you through it, all while keeping your battery charged and fridge cold.
